Augusta Music Family Tree


Steve Swenson (1947-2023) was a drummer and percussionist who toured with “Keith and the Wild Kingdom” in the mid-1960s. The group had one Top 10 hit, “Hey, 98.6” and a Top 20 hit, “Ain’t Gonna Lie.” Steve opened for and played shows with The Beach Boys, Sam The Sham and The Pharaohs, Neil Diamond, Tommy James and the Shondells and many more.

In Augusta, he was the long-time percussionist and crowd favorite in Ed Turner and the Number Nine Band. His signature mustache and unwavering energy endeared him to everyone he met.
